Argan Oil (Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil)
The argan tree grows in the south-west Morocco. Because of its nutritional benefits, it is called "tree of life". The seeds are collected 1-2 times per year and their hard shells are broken manually with stones. Also the argan oil production is mostly done by hand and is very laborious and time consuming. From about 30 kg of fruit only about 1 liter of argan oil can be pressed. The various beneficial effects of argan oil are due to its high content of phytosterols, tocopherols, carotenoids, triterpene alcohols, and the wide range of unsaturated fatty acids. Argan oil promotes natural cell renewal and strengthens skin tissue.
